Pascal Su draws his inspiration from the tradition of African-American jazz, which he enriches through his travels and encounters with legends of the genre such as Cyrus Chestnut, Aaron Goldberg, Danny Grisset, Buster Williams, and Lenny White. These international experiences have profoundly influenced his playing and his approach to composition. Alongside his career as a musician, he shares his passion through his piano school, open to all ages and levels.
Pascal Su’s flagship project, “The Hive,” offers a unique fusion of urban essence and the dazzling magic of jazz. Each concert is an immersive experience, driven by original compositions and a collective energy that invites escape. The album “The Hive” is praised for its boldness and freshness, blending improvisation, groove, and contemporary sounds.
With “Ixus,” Pascal Su explores new sonic territories, offering audiences a modern, colorful, and globally-minded jazz sound. This quintet highlights the individuality of each musician while celebrating the strength of the collective. Ixus’s original compositions restore jazz to its former glory while infusing it with new vitality.
This Brussels quartet revisits the great jazz classics with their own distinctive improvisational freedom and relaxed attitude. The alchemy between the musicians creates a lively spectacle, where each performance becomes a unique moment to share.
Pascal Su has collaborated with many renowned artists on the jazz scene, including Kays Frihat, Josaphat Hounnou (drummer for Lionel Loueke), Thomas Sagne, Pierre-Antoine Savoyat, Maayan Smith, Vincent Thekal, Michel Vrydag, and Theo Zipper. These encounters demonstrate his ability to unite diverse worlds around a shared vision of music that is authentic and inspiring.
